Which speed code or new motor

This is street cart, so no need to go much faster.

To be street legal and get a tag (if that's what you want) its got to be capable of doing 20-25MPH. And no 19 isn't good enough.

Ran it some more. Actually we are getting 20 mph. So at least i feel good everything is working as it should.

Probably just do the plum quick bandit vs a new controller.

A PQ Bandit isn't going to gain you anything. You are already maxed out on speed with speed code 3. SC4 will get you 25. Stock Curtis is good for the flat lands of S. Florida.

He has a speed magnet, thus rendering speed settings basically useless. Speed setting 3 and 4 are the same once you install a magnet.

Probably replaced the brushes and clean the surfaces. Don't get me wrong I think PQ has an excellent product. It increased my speed enough that I was able to get street legal. But it had certain limitation like HP. If I didn't have any hills to climb it would still be in my cart.

My bandit increased my speed and torque. I had speed code 5 and stock motor. The bandit gave me a little more speed and torque. The best thing I did was a 350 amp Curtis controller. It was plug and play. Gave me a lot better take off. And hill climbing.

Update

Went with the Plum Quick Bandit. Finally able to get it put on the cart.
Increased top speed to 24, so gained 4mph overall.

So for now, think we are done with any mechanical changes/repairs. Going to add a rear seat and the final stuff to get it registered (seat belts, DOT certified windshield, wiper) as a street legal, titled, registered LSV.

I'll post some pictures/summary on a separate build thread so people can get some ideas when done But simply put. got a cart for $500-which was missing front seats, no solenoid, bad controller, bald tires and no front cowling.

With a reasonable budget and lots of help and research, think we got a solid cart, with a lot of new parts, that will not need attention for a long time.
