Default 01 TXT w PDS 3-2 code after new solenoid installed

Greetings. We have a 2001 TXT with the PDS. All stock cart. While it was being driven it started giving the 3-2 beep and running slowly. I replaced the solenoid but it still moved slowly and gave the same beep code. Changing out the new solenoid with another new had no effect. Also found that the cart beeps but moves easily back and forward in run mode. Thanks, M.C.

Looked around a bit and found terminals 1 and 2 on J3 were a bit toasty. Replaced plug on j3 with no change. Might it be controller rebuild time?

Check the voltage on J1 Pins 4 & 5. Both should be FULL battery pack voltage.

Don't waste your money on a rebuilt controller. Install an Alltrax XCT.

Check the small wire coming out of the charger receptacle if it's white it has a reed switch if it's red it has been bypassed from the factory. Ezgo had problems with the reed switch in the pds carts when they first came out. It would cause intermittent run problems, one of them would make the cart slow. If that's not the problem the next thing to check is the speed sensor if that is faulty that will make the cart slow

J1/4 and 5 start off 3 v low then after about a second come up to full pack voltage. J1/5 looks like it got a little warm at some point but contacts still intact.

The cart has the small red wire. Cart is not giving a speed sensor error in the diagnostics. Have been looking around, how does one test the speed sensor?

That short delay may be long enough to set the welded solenoid contacts flag and put the cart into the reduced performance mode.

Also, there should be any delay, both pins 4 & 5 connect to the main positive battery terminal. Pin-4 goes through the reed switch and a couple cables/wires, but pin-5 connects to the battery side large terminal on the solenoid.

Try removing the pre-charge resistor from the solenoid and see if the cart runs normally.

If it does, that eliminates everything except bad voltage on those two pins, so it will just be a matter of getting a good connection to them.

A lot of times after you put your cart into diag mode if you don't get a code you will need to turn the key on and put it in foward and drive the cart then the Code will show up give that a try and let me know what happens

It sounds like the speed sensor is bad.

I would pull the sensor from the motor by removing the snap ring and check that the magnet is not loose, I've seen the magnets come loose from the washer that they are attached to.

The magnet is just epoxied to a washer.

The wiring for the speed sensor could also have a spot wear the insulation has worn through from rubbing on the Fram so check for that also.

Greetings. Sorry for the gap in responses. I have been pretty busy with shows coming through here and have not had much free time to work on the cart. Removed the resistor with no change in performance, and the speed sensor magnet is still attached to its' washer. The sensor cable is zip tied nice and safe. Cart still moves easily while beeping in run mode (I can run while pushing it with no resistance) and is still giving the 3-2 error code. Testing J1/ 4+5 goes to pack voltage immediately now with no delay. Thanks, M.C.
