Precedent cuts out at the end
I bought a used 2016 precedent with new batteries my guage is showing 5 bars from dead and when you take off from a stop it cuts out until it reaches speed. The battery light never comes on. After you recharge the golf cart it works fine until it reaches less than half way then cuts out. But it only cuts out on forwards, reverse is normal. Could it possibly be the mcor? Seems like if it would be that it would do it all the time and not just when the golf cart gets low

Re: Precedent cuts out at the end
Sounds like a battery issue to me. The MCOR would give you the same symptoms regardless of the state-of-charge of the battery pack. Those bar gauges are very inaccurate to begin with. The best thing you can do is to get an electrical multimeter and measure the voltage of the battery pack with it. This will give you all the information you need.

Re: Precedent cuts out at the end
The gauge is bad. The electronic inside need a certain voltage to operate the LEDs. When you accelerate from a stop the voltage drops below the min required value and the LEDs go out. When you get to speed the voltage recovers. Reverse doesn't have that big a draw so it works normal.

Re: Precedent cuts out at the end
Don't forget that you should charge the batteries after each use and never let them get below a 50% state-of-charge (in fact, try not to go below 80%). If you do it will shorten their life considerably.
Also they should never be stored in a discharged state (hence the need to charge them after each use so they are not sitting discharged). The gauge may not be bad but, as WalterM6 says, when you are accelerating the state-of-charge drops so much that the LEDs do not light until you stop accelerating. |
