'04 EZGO shredding speed sensor magnets
I have an '04 PDS running 42v Alltrax controller with stock 36v motor. Cart started speed surging. Found broken speed sensor magnet. Glued it back together while waiting for new one. Broke apart iin first 10 minutes. No problem, that's a sketchy operation anyway. New one arrived. Next day cart starts misbehaving. New magnet is broken apart. The cart has started making a little noise like bad bearings might, but I can't detect wobble when wiggling wheels.
What are some reasons I might be tearing up new magnets? Any diagnostic ideas? |

On further investigation the motor is worn. The armature spindle shaft shifts back and forth about 3/8", which I guess is enough to come into contact with the inner snap ring and sensor and tear the magnet up. I have not removed and examined the motor so I don't know exactly what is worn out, but I may use this as an opportunity to upgrade with a new go-box.
