Mike, that is good to hear. Did you try the 72 volts prior to rebanding or after? I got my two new T-105 batteries on yesterday evening a rode about 7 miles in torque mode at 48v. Power was good, speed was comparable to speed mode at 36 volts. I got a good charge on all 8 batteries last night a will go for a ride later. I'll GPS this weekend in both modes. Motor was hot last night, I checked 30 mins after returning and I could hold my hand on there for 5 seconds, but it had been going full speed most of the way.

OK, 48 volt conversion complete and the numbers are: Torque mode- 24 mph & Speed mode- 30 mph. The speed took a while to top out but, it basically ranged 29.5 to 30.5 in speed mode on flat ground, with a max speed at 32.8 on a slight downhill. So, the speed moved from 18-24mph in torque mode and from 26-30 mph in speed mode. The only thing different with cart was I put the top back on so, that may have slowed me a little. It appears I didn't have the horsepower to turn the 7400 rpms in speed, it was more like 6400 rpm. Anyway, the question now is....8:1 gears = mph??? Torque??? Any opinions welcome.

Finally got the 8:1 gears in and the rpms are back to 36v rpms (around 5000rpm) in speed mode. So, I think the difference in the increase in torque from voltage increase (36v-48v) is washed out by the decrease in torque from dropping the gears down. Speed is up though....34-35mph, so it was all worth it. I just got to ride the cart this afternoon for a minute, I'll do some more testing later this week.

Yeah, I cleaned my F/R real good and adjusted my Alltrax back to linear instead of S-Curve and got the topend up to 37.9mph. I've since switched to a PQ Motor and have topped out at 50.2mph. This setup is for racing and not daily driving, but I'm trying to see how fast I can go! Will be switching to cranking type batts for high amps and will be going with a higher amp controller to let the current flow. The batts will drop my weight considerably and raise my speed. I think every 100lbs is equal to about 3 mph in speed.

Wow 50 mph is awesome! I wonder what kind of amps it is pulling at that speed with your setup. ( battery amps)

Mine pulls 50 amps at 30 mph with a 72 V pack. Wind resistance starts kicking in pretty good at 30 so I imagine the amps will start climbing above that speed. I need 8:1 or 6:1 gears to keep my motor in one piece though.

Can one get more then a few recharge cycles out of starting batteries (super thin plates) before max output starts dropping when fully charged?

There are some cool Youtube electric racers in link Chevy Nova, etc bodies. They use some like of special batteries I think.

Amp draw is around 310 at 50mph with the PQ, it is setup for racing so the amp draw is high. The EMP was around 170 amps at full speed. 50 amps is low, I know 72volts is more efficient with its amp usage to achieve speeds. What is your setup like?

Odyssey has some specs on the cycles, it depends on depth of discharge and some other factors. Definitely a specialty battery, not for long distances.
