Stripped a Gear

Hey guys,

I have a 1981 Club Car DS. Its been a real good cart to me. Earlier in the year I stripped one of the gears in the rear end and am just getting around to fixing it back up as the golf season is over here. Anyways, I know that the motor spline has changed from male to female but am wondering if all of the other gearing has remained mostly the same in newer models. I stripped the second, middle gear and there is nowhere around with gearing that old. If I found out that I was able to use just the middle gear off of a later model year, that would be fantastic (and less costly).

So, does anyone know anything about this topic.
