My spring should here by the weekend so I started pulling the clutch last night. the belt and nut are removed. Is a puller required to pull off from the shaft. as light tapping has not budged it. thanks

You need a puller that bolts into the sheave and pushes on the shaft (like a steering wheel puller/etc), its a taper and it does not come loose easily. If you really have to you can put a long bar between the ramps in back and across the trans, back the nut off half way, then (with belt removed) whack the bar with a big hammer (3lb) and rotate to the next ramp space, keep doing that be very careful not to gouge up the ramps/etc hit the flat spot. Should pop off eventually. You may need to remove the rear body, but easier to work on secondary that way anyway. Whatever you do never touch the sheaves of either clutch when taking them off, they just break or bend. Watch out for the little key in the outside sheave, usually it gets stuck on it and will not come off until you remove it, but it can fly out on the floor. I grab it with vicegrips and wiggle it out. Then the whole secondary comes off.

Umax? Tntgolfcar, ebay sometimes, yamaha dealer.....likely other places.

I am running B4 on my secondary (should be two settings stiffer than stock B2) with a new stock g9 spring right now and it seems to be close to what I need. Waiting on a belt because I think maybe this CPP kevlar belt is too wide. It worked like a charm on my old worn clutches but this 94c is not adjustable for width (some 94 are) and it drags....so I ordered a stock size double cogged belt last week to make sure my issues are not from the wrong belt size.

Not sure if I will put the umax back in at some point once I get it tuned better. It is working great above 10mph right now, it just revs hard on takeoff even at lower throttle. Hope its the belt size. I hit 4K rpm with any level throttle before I reach 10mph, after that it works great.

I have a g1 and and a g16. Will the umax spring work in both of these? Also, how does double loading the stock spring on the g16 compare to the the umax for torque and pulling hills. That's what I'm looking to accomplish. Any cons as far as double loading the spring?
Thanks everyone

I'm interesting in knowing if the umax fits the G1 also. In my G2 I have the CPP spring. With the stock engine it turned the 24" tires ok. Didn't slow down on hills but never really had the HP I wanted. It kept breaking the pin that holds the nut on. I'd drive 15 yards and my clutch would be in 2 pieces across my front yard. I bolted it back together and after my 3rd pin broke I put just a tiny tack weld on the nut. Now I have a Polaris engine and the spring seems to be too much. It's fun but it takes it awhile to start shifting out and letting the speed climb.

The locating pins on the umax spring have to be removed for use on g1. It is a bit much for g1, and limits top speed, but will tow cars around the yard.
