g16 spark

i got one of those china tach speedometers for a motorcycle they say it will work on a 1-2-4 cylinder.& to hook it up to the coil or rectifier for a siginal. my question is i herd someone say the g16 sparks every stroke not just on the compression is that true? if so i should set the tach to 2 cylinder i would think? also where would be a good point to tap in to the system for a signal to sent to the tach thanks

If it like most tachs you get your signal off the negative pole of the coil.On my clone I used the 4cyl setting to get the correct rpms.Still trying to do the math on that one.

I guess that would depend on how the tach takes into account spark cycle. The G16 sparks every time the piston comes to the top. The best way to try it out is to see if it registers between 2,000 and 4,000 rpms when running your engine. That would be correct with a governor.
