G1-G9 (tom) I purchased and installed a choke kit for the tuned carb last year. I had it running last year to where it would idle and run better than now but still not perfect. The gasoline is new also. I do have a barb at the top of my valve cover but I havent checked if oil got into it. I will check that out. Thanks...I will let you know the updates later today. Its mighty cold out here today. lol

Tom, it was oil in the pulse vacuum line. I now have the line going upwards from the valve cover so oil wont make it down to the front. It runs pretty good now! I do have a slight backfire but im going to have to put the drive belt on it and take it for a ride to see how it all responds. I cant thank you enough G1-G9. I think im going to have a WONDERFUL summer with my lady now. Smile. I will get back to you about this in an email. Thanks again to everyone who gave input.

Looks and sounds good! You may want to go back to the stock spring in your driven clutch. You really don't need a torque spring with that engine.

@TheNewGuy.....Torque isnt my problem. How would the secondary spring make a difference in the way it idles and midrange?

Sorry, this was not a solution to any problems you may be having, just an observation.

I think you have a vacuum leak based on the way it won't idle and smooths out at higher RPM....a guess based on years of experience...you should be able to spray WD40 around the carb and see if the engine RPM's go up.
