Default 92 yamaha g9a quick question

How can I test the voltage regulator It quit running and wont start back up no matter what I do I checked the wiring and found that the wires going to the buzzer for the back up and the wires to the voltage regulator were melted I get battery voltage to the red and white wire when I push the pedal and the one below it the black it melted and the wire below it. What should I check for first as to why it melted them would the regulator be bad cause that. Thanks james
