Help need info.. Wont start!!
Hello peeps,,
My grand kid was driving my old G9 single 4 stroke this morning she took a break.. she shut it down.. now when i try starting it it wont fire... it will backfire while trying to start the momentary gas switch has been terminated... I've completely cleaned carb & tried new plug... still backfires will not start........ Any idea's as what might be wrong ??? thanks Billium |

Shoot a shot of carb clean or brake clean into the carb throat & crank it to see if it briefly starts, if so, a lack of fuel is the problem.

Get "dynamic spark tester" at auto parts store, check for consistant spark.

a few things to check , first loosen up the exhaust and try to run it , you may have a blocked exhaust , if it runs fine with the muffler off then you need to clean the muffler or bbq it , if that does not cure the problem you may have a stuck valve and need to pull the valve cover and check to see that the pushrods are working and not bent , if that still does not work you need to pull the head and check for a stuck valve.

Found the problem.... took valve cover off & seen that a push rod came off.. Valve was not opening........ anyone know how to set valve lash ???
And a big thanks to all that gave time to advise... |

It's up & running again.. adjusted valve lash to .004 took a few try's but worth the time to recheck a few time's.. The G/kid's are tearin up the yard again. Makes me feel like the kids just visit to go cruise'in . lol
