Yamaha G1 driven clutch info needed!
Im needing help i have a yamaha G1 and the driven clutch, or the sliding sheave is worn badly along with the spring cap or what ever its called that it slides into, i have been unable to find a repair kit, but noticed i can get a secondary sheave for a g2 cheap but the g1 is very expensive, was wondering if any other parts will interchange or another fix.. Thanks for any info. Trying to rebuild this cart for my kids to ride, but dont want a war pension in it either.

Re: Yamaha G1 driven clutch info needed!
You could get away with a secondary sheave from a G1 on a G2 but you can't get away with a G2 on a G1. The reason for this is that the secondary clutch on a G1 has 6 ramp shoes on it, three on the helix and three on the outer sheave. The secondary clutch turns in both directions for forward and reverse. It does not have a reverse gear. The G2 secondary only has three ramp shoes on it because it only turns in one direction. I suppose you could use G2 on a G1 but when you put it in reverse you would be metal on metal......not good.
