Some people use brake cleaner as staring fluid. It and many other solvent cleaners such as carb cleaner are hydrocarbon based that are very volatile and combustable. Not really recommending it BUT sometimes things at hand are used.

I'd never spray anything like that into a small aluminum head engine. Way to volotile. Gasoline only for me.

If a vehicle is hard to start, the first thing I'd do is to check all the basics (air, fuel, spark, compression). I would go to the dollar store and get a cheap spray bottle. Put some fresh fuel in there, and use that to see if the cart will start. If it does, that tells me it's not getting enough fuel, probably a clogged pilot jet.

If the cart runs great other than hard start, the pilot air jet could be plugged, very common. To clean that you can use a very small copper wire. It's the jet on the very face of the carb, very tiny one.

Well a whole lot of us on the island here keep cans of staring fluid around and use it to check all sorts of non starting engines out. I know not the ideal situation BUT haven't hurt anything yet and does show if there is ignition Also great for getting new lawn tractor and golf cart tires beaded up. Again not the factory recommended way to do it. I feel naked if I don't have at least 3 cans in stock. P.S. Ray's victims so far Both golf carts with either engine, every lawn mower I ever owned, every lawn tractor I have ever owned, along with chain saws, edgers, weed wackers, rototillers, chipper shredders, outboards, a couple of old generators and whole lot of hot rod engines and all sorts of cycles. P.P.S. I would not do it on modern FI engine.

I understand the break clean but it works and i use small amounts, i can t see it as a jet as i cleaned the old carb twice so i finally replaced it with one from amazon ( i know cheap) but it does the same thing. Today i went through the fuel lines and found two that were cracked at the ends, i cut them off and reattached . The cart seems to fire up now but the new carb is leaking fuel out the bottom from the brass spout..

Many modern starting fluids are based on heptane the most volatile component in gasoline along with some lubricants and CO2 as a propellant. Some also use propane or butane as combustible propellants. Not the old either based formula of the past.

The Amazon carb is not nearly as good of a product as the original Mikuni carb. I would take the original carb and disassemble it, clean each passage/jet with a piece of wire or a jet cleaning tool, soak it over night, clean it again.
