Default Yamaha G2 Steering Box is Toast

Hi Guys,

This is my first post here, but I just want to say thanks for all the help I've received from the hundreds of posts I've read over the past 6 months since buying my cart.

I have a Hyundai G2 cart with a 420CC Predator in it, and the steering box is in trouble.

I crashed the thing into a tree and cracked off the bolt mounts on the steering box assembly - so right now the whole steering box is held on by half a bolt.

Does anyone have any experience on upgrading / modding to a new steering box? Any input and suggestions are welcome!

This thing ain't pretty but she sure is fun and I'd hate to lose her!

If it were me this is the time I'd spend the money and take the time too upgrade too a rack and pinion unit in place of the steering box. You'll have to mount the unit and either build new, or work on your steering links as well.

I'd be some work but worth it for the improved steering. My opinion only of course.

I just took a perfectly good one off a G2 frame that I'm putting under my G9. It sits in the scrap metal pile with the steering wheel on it. I'm sure you can find one here very easily and have your cart back up and running around. But like Dawg said rack and pinion is very nice.

cwilliams........ They don't sell a drop in unit. You would have to do some measuring to get the right length unit, then you'd have to make your own mounts to attach it too the cart. Follow this by making steering linkage the correct length. So a lot of work and you'll need some fab skills and tools.
