Default Re: G9 running, but won't throttle up - does engage into fwd and rev gear as it shoul

Well, not sure how to explain it, but it's fixed. When I got home, I pulled the plug (cleaned it up again), redid the compression check with the gauge so I could post the number (115 btw). I shot some starter fluid direct into the plug hole this time, checked plug spark again (it was good). Darn thing fired right up. I rode it around for 30 minutes and no problems at all. Not the first gremlin to curse this thing in such a way.....

Well, lets see how it goes. Can't fix a problem that now won't present itself after that 5 minutes of tinkering.

Here's what I'm thinking (hear my out).

I was working on 2 other gasser carts as well as 2 older ATV's at the time mine decided to act up. I'm guessing when I was bouncing around from each if them (I know, I should stick to one 'til the end), perhaps I did something in my list in post #1 on one of the other projects and thinking back telling myself I did it to my G9......who the heck knows. You'd think I'd learn to stick to one thing at a time......yeah right. Just yesterday I was bouncing b/w an old Jeep CJ7, an e46 BMW and a D21 Hardbody Nissan Pickup with all different sorts of different running/starting problems. Got them all going though in the end......maybe I scared off the Gremlin with my Jedi mind tricks........lol

I'll take it either way.

115 is totally lousy compression, should be in the neighborhood of 150

Sorry, fat-finger typo. It was 135...still a little low I agree, but having bought this used about 5;yrs ago, I have no idea if any rebuilds have even been done. I haven't had to open up the motor since I've had it anyways.....just adjusting valve lash from time-to-time. Didn't run when I got it, but that was all electrical issues back then.

I'll post again if it wants to act up again down the road. Thanks all for the pointers.......what did we DIY'rs ever do before the days of internet forums and YouTube....[emoji848][emoji35]
