Default Make cart quiet as possible.

Hello to all!

I have a 2002 Club Car 2100. I just put a new FE400 in it. Always going against the grain, I want to make exhaust as quiet as possible. Not loud and try to pass off a 13hp machine as a beast of power. To make old exhaust fit I had to cut and weld it in several places. It works fine, I just want it quieter than stock. I heard a Yamaha cart the other day that was very quiet it was hard to hear until it was close. Does anybody make a muffler that is exceptionally quiet? One that can be attached or welded in as a replacement? I realize I could buy the whole exhaust for that Yamaha and just use the muffler, why does Yamaha think a golf cart exhaust system is worth $400+? I just want the muffler, not the few inches of exhaust pipe welded to both ends.

The difference between the '02 FE400 and the new '18 engine is just enough to be a pain in the a**. The '02 driven clutch will not fit new crankshaft. The new engine comes without dipstick, odd. They want $90 for it and the old one is way too short and does not fit in hole. It does come with new carb but you will need a different throttle cable end. The exhaust port is at a different angle, farther forward, and higher in new head. I cut and welded old exhaust to fit.
.

Unless there is something wrong with the current exhaust system it should be as quiet as it is going to get. Never heard of an aftermarket system quieter than the stock system on any brand of cart.

Would love to hear about it if there is one.

I agree, most mud grip tires make more noise than the engine running, even at speed

Not sure what year of Yamaha you heard, but the new ones are exceptionally quiet. They have the engine enclosed in sound absorbing material. You would be surprised at how much noise comes from the engine itself.

Thanks for the response. It is a 2100 Club Car with a dump bed on the back. I feel you are correct in that a lot of what is heard is engine noise. Going to try some sound deadening under the bed and put a mat in it. At speed the driver and passenger have to yell to each other. Not that 15 mph is traveling at speed.................
