Honda swap technical question for lifted ‘99 DS
Hi all, my wife and I just bought our first cart after moving to a golfing community in the hill country in Texas. Our neighborhood has some steep hills to say the least and the 9 hp Kawasaki ain’t cutting it at all. We’re going to swap the engine to one of the Honda variations (630,660,690) and I wanted to get opinions. I know almost nothing about engines, but I’ve always had an interest in it. I’ve noticed that all of these Honda engines are very close to the same price, so will the 690 fit in this cart as easily as the 630? The cart has a 6” lift. What kind of mounts and such do I need to buy with one of these engines? We’re not planning on doing a lot of upgrades later, we just want a good engine with enough hp and torque to haul us and the kids to the lake and handle the hills, roughly 600lb load including us and the ice chests.

I would start by looking at the swap kits at Cart Parts Plus. Give them a call or email. Should have you going up them hills in no time.

Thanks, I’ll check them out! Right now my engine is leaking oil like crazy, where do you think I should start first to find out where it’s leaking? I looked underneath the cart and oil was dripping from the back of the mount.

Check drain plug first.
Then it could be the crank seal or crankcase gasket. |
