Default G2 rear suspension

Need new rear shocks for my G2.

There is a store similar to Harbor Freight in Canada (Princess Auto) that has some shocks for about 30$ CDN (22$US) each.

Problem is these are no-name or unknown brand, only specs I found is the max load capacity which is 269lbs each.

Length is off by 1/4 inch uncompressed which I imagine wouldn't be an issue.

Does anybody have opinions on these? I am assuming they would perform better since mine are shot.

Thanks

IMHO, it looks like something that would go on a motorcycle or ATV. The ability to change the spring tension leads me in that direction.

it looks pretty nice, but I don't know what you would use it on... a go kart maybe? I think it's a bit light for most of the 4wheelers I've owned... I've had several honda foremans a little over 600lbs. My sportsman was over 700lbs dry... Maybe it would work on my kids little Suzuki LT80?

540lbs (for both rears) isn't much to max out at. Considering the golf cart weighs around 500-600lbs+, plus if you have a back seat those are easily 100+ lbs, and a couple adults at ~200lbs each.

I think you'd overload those very quickly.

I agree, looks a bit too light duty for a golf cart.

The weight rating is for one shock, so double that for the rear, I'd think it would do ok. I have atv shocks on all 4 corners of my cart, and the atv's weight is only 400lbs. My shocks work great. For the price it would be worth a try. It's hard for me to believe that stock G2 cart shocks are any heavier than these, I'd guess they are rated for less. All the atv shocks I've used were stronger springs than the original cart shocks. Shocks I'm currently using are from Suzuki LTZ400 and Yamaha Warrior 350, both 400lb dry weight total.

Just to give an update on this issue, I took the plunge and bought a pair.

Installed them on the cart and it doesn't support the weight of the cart at all.
Rating might be 269lbs per pair and not each.

So I reverted back to my dead (or almost dead) stock shocks.

Back to the drawing board.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I'm thinking you're right about the weight rating. It also could be a cheap Chinese knock off, they usually are bogus. Chinese mfg's put all kinds of stickers and ratings on their junk and it doesn't mean anything, they can say whatever they want since there's no regulations etc. At least you can sell them on Ebay.

Why not buy some new stock shocks?

Trying to save a few bucks buying locally.
Currently the exchange rates between CAD$ and USD$ is pretty bad.

Doesn't always pay to be cheap...
