I'm not a huge fan of secondary clutch power springs. They seem to hold the rpm too low and will cause engagement issues if it's too stiff. Any adjustment you make to the clutches will net a result, not necessarily a good result. I run all my clutches with stock parts.

So does it sound like my only option to get back under 6mph and not have a jerk when I take off to remove the spring? Or could a throttle cable adjustment possibly help?

Readjust the throttle cable... that should get you your slower cruising speed!
