2009 G29 - From the Ground Up! (pics included) Assistance Very Much Needed!
Here is my thread on my rebuilding of a ground up, 2009 G29 Electric Cart.
there is a slight problem in the rear end, one cross member is broken off (and it appears it was already repaired once) and the other is bent (the one with the bushings) I have already spoken to Don (at plowmanscarts.com) and I am waiting to hear back from him BUT I would really like to get input and ideas from as many of you who are willing to contribute. I am very new at this and love to see/read as much as possible before throwing money at it. First question, is that back end repairable? Should it be fixed/rewelded or should I pull that and put something beefier in? |

IMO too much is missing. Unless you find a donor, you will spend too much to replace the missing stuff. Fixing the back end is doable but you will quickly find that any parts you have to buy new will be very expensive.

The brace can be welded back on.
The one with the bushings is a pan hard bar. It keeps the rear axle centered as the suspension articulates. That cart was rode hard. Real hard. You’ve got your work cut out for you. Not saying I wouldn’t rebuild it, you could still have a bad to the bone ride for less than you could buy a finished one for. Just gonna take some work to get you there |

I got it for $60 bucks. I am going to run the numbers to see what I have to drop (before dropping it) and if in the end I have a bad *** cart that is worth more than I put into it, (labor not included) then it very well may be worth it in my opinion.
If not, then I will move on. If so, then I will strip it down to the frame, fix the brace, get rid of all the rust, seal/paint it back up and then start from there. Question, the tranny and brakes, how can I check them to see if they are OK too? Would hate to buy all the parts, hook it up and then find I have no brakes and/or the tranny is fried! thanks again. I appreciate the responses. |

That tranny has a wet internal braking system. You have to disassemble the whole thing to service the brakes - and the brake parts cost 4X what you paid for your cart. (I know because I am in the process of doing the brakes on mine.)

I’ve done the brakes. It’s not that bad. Especially when yours is that far apart. I wouldn’t let that stop you. Brakes that don’t work at all are pretty rare too- I’d guess yours probably work somewhat. You can test it by pulling the small lever on the transaxle housing and seeing if you get any braking action.
I think that’s a great frame to do a build on. I’ve done several frame up builds starting with less than that. |
