On an 01 that bolt is left hand thread.
Righty loosey on that one.

If you have enough access try shaving the flats back down with a dremel or die grinder and stick a smaller socket on. Be sure to only use a 6 point socket.
Otherwise try your luck with Vice grips.

How hard were you wrenching on it? You may be best off hammering a smaller socket into it and using a size down. I’d order a new clutch bolt. Vise grips may work if it’s not *too* tight from cranking on it. I’m surprised it stripped the head of the bolt before the threads in the crank.

Righty loosy lefty tighty. They usually aren’t very tight, I think 30 ft lbf is the spec off the top of my head. Hopefully it didn’t booger up the crankshaft. Hard to find a left hand thread tap.

Hi guys, I’m also trying to get my Clutch removed on a 2002 Club Car DS and it seems I can’t even get the original holding bolt off the center of the clutch to put the dedicated puller that I did order from a Club Car Dealership. I tried with a small impact turning clockwise at first to loosen it (I believe it is reverse threads on this) it did not budge. For the fun of it, I also tried counterclockwise and same, it did not move! Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated before I put my 750 LBS Impact on it! Thanks.

I realize this an old post. I deal with a lot of broken bolts and rounded bolt heads. What I have found is that vise grips seldom work. Their gripping teeth aren't aggressive enough to bite into the steel. I have good success with a small pipe wrench. Sometimes adding heat from a propane torch and then spraying penetrating oil...the oil will be drawn into the threads and help loosen. If the bolt has Loctite on it, heat is usually necessary if "red" Loctite was used. All the fails, it's time to drill.
