Default 87 vs 91 Octane fuel

I always use 91 in all my stuff because of no ethanol in it and have been using it in my 1995 DS (I don’t care about cost). How many of you run premium fuel with no issues in these things? I just hate ethanol and the damage it can cause in older stuff.

I've been using the non-ethanol gas (90 octane) in both my 1990 and my 1987 for several years and they do well with it. To me it's worth the extra cost. In a perfect world where the government doesn't subsidize ethanol...it would be way cheaper.

Are you sure your 91 octane is non-ethanol? We have 93 octane hi-test around here and it still has ethanol in it. The 90 octane stuff I buy is specifically non-ethanol.

I have a 1931 Oldsmobile, it took me a while to make it run on the crap they call gas now a days. The higher the octane, the cooler and slower it burns, subsequently the higher compression ratio it is made to run in. I actually use lead additives to lower the octane of the fuel since the car is 6:1 compression. Most people think the lead additives are to protect the valves, but no, just to drop the octane.

Yes the ethanol is junk that eats aluminum. You can add the “marine” stabile fuel additive and the marine stabile is supposed to combat the ethanol, not allowing the ethanol to eat the aluminum.

I only run non ethanol in my generator, carts, mower, small engines. stuff that doesn't see a lot of hours. Friend runs it in his boat for the same reason - it doesn't go bad as quickly. have had no problems. usually 60 cents - $1 more a gallon but again its not going in my daily driver

I run 91 non ethanol in everything I can.
On very rare occasion that I have to use ethanol gas it gets treated with Stabil 360 Marine before it goes in kind of equipment or vehicles.
I had to buy regular ethanol gas a few months ago when the "gas shortage" was going on, and I went out and bought a gallon jug of Stabil to put in the tank with the gas so it wouldn't go messing everything up.
