Robbin 295 only runs good with choke on
We have cleaned the carb may times with no avail. The only thing that makes in run well with out backfiring and poor slow speed running is pulling the choke out a little bit.
We have lashed the valves too. (that was our first thought) |

Dude it seems like your still missing something in that carb.... I know you say you've cleaned it repeatedly but it still sounds like somethin is stuck in that carb...

Re: Robbin 295 only runs good with choke on
im with ezgo, the idle ports are plugged, strip it down to nothing and get a can of carb cleaner and blow out every orifice, especially the 3 tiny holes by the choke plate. compressed air is a plus when trying to get gunk out of a carb thats clogged
forgot to ask if you did a compression test? |

Re: Robbin 295 only runs good with choke on
We just rebuilt it and it has about 160psi in both cyls. I let the carb soak overnite cleaned and blew out everything the pilot jet was plugged had to take a small wire and clean it out good. Float was out of adjustment. Started it up and it ran well for about 15 min then started bogging down and not running well. I had to go to work so packed it up for the day.
My dad got this cart in non running condition and some one who had this cart before had there hands in everything. The problem I am having now is running at slow speed the cart starts and wants to take right off then when you slow down to a crawl it jerks back and forth. It kind of seems to me the clutch spring is worn out be cause the clutch engages right off idle. Every golf cart I have driven at the golf course you could put your foot on the gas and kind of make it idle then press a little more and take off. This thing as soon as the engine starts it wants to move. Also in the manual I downloaded says the main jet should be a #80 this thing has a #90 All the cables are tight on this cart. I tried to adjust the micro switch today so the cart would start and idle before the clutch would engage. I think we are on the right path now seems to run better just have to get all the cables adjusted correctly. |

Re: Robbin 295 only runs good with choke on
I don't know when they changed and went to a cable to the governor, but I have a 2000 that had linkage running across the driver's end of the motor. It was a short piece and was adjusted to tight (short) causing the motor to surge and not run smooth at low speed without giving it gas then letting off. It needs to have just a bit of slack in that linkage. If you have that linkage, take off one end and adjust to where it just fits back on but droops a little in the middle.
The linkage is in two pieces and has a little short piece of cable in the middle, for what I heard was to keep golfers from bending it in the middle to make shorter, to get the cart to go faster by defeating the governor. |
