Getting the forward/reverse lever off

I am new to golf carts so I know this is probably a simple question. I am trying to take off the body and the screw that holds the forward/reverse lever is stripped out. I am thinking of just drilling it out. Is this screw the only thing holding this lever on? I don't want to break any thing else by drilling it out.

Yes the screw is the only thing holding it on. I would just use a drill bit a bit larger than what you think the screw size is and drill until the head is off. The handle should slide off and there should be enough screw sticking out to grab with a vise grip and turn out.

thanks, that was my plan. just wanted to avoid doing any thing I might later regret
