2 cycle back firing
anyone can tell me how to stop or lessen the backfire on a 2 cycle harley or columbia when i let off accelerator then hit it again it sometimes back fires any old school mechanics or engineers can help me thanks Woody

This topic is covered a lot in another post. But it goes pretty in depth. You pretty much have something fuel related out of adjustment. I started with my throttle cable and got it pretty much eliminated with just that. But do a search if you are having trouble past that.

make sure the carb is closing all the way,either by turning the idle screw out a bit or adjusting the throttle cable or both.the carb needs to close all the way when you let off or it will cotinue to draw in gas with no fire then you hit the gas again and it will burn the built up gas as a backfire.hope this helps.
