Re: 2012 Yamaha "The Drive" only goes 6-10MPH
no worries, yes you remove the access panel and you will see a bracket coming off the rear end going up towards starter, the adjustment nut is attached to that bracket.

Re: 2012 Yamaha "The Drive" only goes 6-10MPH
The starter engages as soon as the gas pedal is depressed because the plunger type switch under the pedal is activated. You need to adjust the accelerater cable under the floor board. Leave a little slack in the cable or you'll be giving the cart gas before the micro switch allows the starter to engage and the cart will take off with a jerk. The cable that Camarol was referring is from the govenor to the carb. and would be adjusted after you adjust the accelerator cable if necessary. Good Luck

Re: 2012 Yamaha "The Drive" only goes 6-10MPH
Hello
I just bought a new gas drive and looking to do this mod to increase speed. My first cart... How do you take the access panel off without breaking those plastic rivets? Thanks |

The rivets are a two piece design. Take two flat head screwdrivers and pry on each side to separate the center pin from the outer. If you break them spares are very cheap. Any atv dealership will have them instock for less than a dollar.
