Default Engine won't start

I am new here so here goes. I have an 88 EZgo gas cart that won't start. First the starter generator bushing were gone therefore wouldn't turn over. Got that fixed and put back on my cart. Now the cart turns over, has spark, getting fuel but won't start. Did notice when I pulled the plug that it was very dirty, wet and full of some gunk. Cleaned it up and put it back in. Now I am thinking of getting a new plug and do a compression test. Does anyone know what the compression should be and if you have any ideas for my problem please feel free to throw them my way. Thanks in advance.

Could be that the carb needs a good cleaning, change fuel filter, if it has been setting for awhile empty gas out fill with new and get rid of any oil reserve system and mix 1 oz of oil per gallon of gas.Too much problems with the oil system to depend on go ahead and change plug. Compression should be around 120psi
Hope this will help you. Woodchiper

Thanks. New fuel filter is already on it. Was running with new fuel which is mixed just last weekend. But I will check the carb and clean it as needed.

Well it is bad news. Compression was only 70psi. And looked at the plug again and oops it has aluminum in it. Crap, looks like a rebuild in order, just not sure how much is gone inside. Still turned over with NO clunking.
