Reg--->green wire--->DF
Can the green ground wire from the regulator to the gen/starter be connected to one end of the gen/starter housing v. the DF pole? (That's the way it was connected when I bought my 85 2-stroke marathon.) And if not, what will happen?
Thanks. |

Re: Reg--->green wire--->DF
The green wire from the regulator should only go to the DF terminal on the s/g, not to the metal housing. That wire needs to be isolated from ground. If it was connected to housing and df terminal, your regulator is fried and the s/g will put out unregulated high voltage, which would cook your battery and eventual ruin your s/g. Look in the tech section, the wiring diagram shows the proper connection. Hope that helps.

Re: Reg--->green wire--->DF
Thanks guys. I switched it back to the DF terminal the way it's supposed to be. I hope I didn't fry my regulator. FYI-indeed when I put it on the DF terminal the s/g ran cooler....again thanks dudes.
