Extra protection for the passenger that doesn't have a steering wheel to hang onto, and easier in and out for the driver. Makes sense.
That would work if they were reversed.

Mines not bent on my G-20 Yamaha but the pass.side front and rear seat bars are bigger than the drivers side.

I think Doomsman miss read my last post. I do think that the passenger side handle is larger than the drivers side. Good to hear that it's the same on the Yamaha's too.

More or less its to keep the pass. in the seat.
The driver has the wheel to hold on to so that side is smaller.

Just to wake up a zombie thread.

I found this thread in a Google search.

I was given a turf2. I just thought the passenger rail was bent when something fell on it. Then saw the rail on a freinds turf. It was bent too and then I realized they were all like this.

Weeks later I Google seeing if anyone had a reason it was bent? Thanks.

If you look at the handles on the 2000+ ds carts you'll see they are 2 different sizes. I ordered a set of the new style grab handles an when I opened the box and had them sitting on the table In front of me I thought for sure something was wrong. Contacted the club car dealer and he told me that's the way they make them.
