G2's have a rev control built into the ignition. So a tach isn't necessary.

i understand that but I like the look of a rpm gauge and think it would be cool to see what rpms im running.. And eventually I would maybe like to swap the g9 ignitor so I can get rid of the rev limiter

Look up Equus tach on here, most likely in the big block section. The one model for $60 or whatever is a nice tach and comes with a plug wire clip for the pickup. How to set it up is and ongoing thing. Sometimes they get funny at high rpm, some are modifying the wire to help, some carts they seem to work fine on.

I don't know people get the Equus tach at various places if that is what they have. CPP is a good place to deal with however I would guess something they carry would work well on a cart as they actually run/build carts too they are not just a warehouse. You can call them they are happy to answer questions there is at least one guy on here from there.
