My cart can get to 30/32mph depending on conditions!

And I'll also agree with CTD's statement!

Ummm... Terry? what the heck are you doing in the Gas Club Car forum? that's just not fair!

93 DS with zip tied governor, machined drive clutch and 215/50-12 tires. I get 24 mph when I bump rev limiter.

My '87 with a 6" lift and 22.5" tires will do 22mph on flat concrete with the governor disabled. But I rarely hit that speed in normal driving, I would say 17-18 mph is my "comfortable" top speed.

I guess when I get the lift installed I should get out the zip ties! Lol!

37mph with 25" tires and no engine governor, 41mph on a slight downhill grade, even hit 48 on steep hill but my butt started to pucker and I backed out of it!

Have any of you guys actually hurt your engines by disabling your governor?

As long as you aren't bouncing it off the rev limiter or holding it wide open for really long runs I think you'll be OK. A good practice is to keep it well maintained. Oil, filters, etc. changed a little more often than one would on a stock cart.

In the long run though, more RPMs = quicker engine wear. That's just a fact of life for engines though.
