Glad to be here
I have a 07 Gas Club Car I just purchased. The starter generator was replaced about 4 months ago and it then sat up for about 3 months. Now when I drive it the starter generator runs red hot and smokes. Could this be wired wrong or faulty part.

Re: Glad to be here
It could definitely be wired incorrectly, but I think a more logical explanation would be a failed voltage regulator. Can you monitor the battery voltage with a multimeter while the engine is running to make sure it's not overcharging? It's easiest to do this while running in neutral. The engine will run in neutral if you hold the rear-most microswitch on the back of the F&R switch in the UP position.
