Cart wont stop running
Hello,
I have 92 CarryAll with an issue I cannot seem to sort out. For whatever reason when letting off the gas pedal in either forward or reverse the engine continues to run and push or pull the cart in that direction. The only way to get the thing to actually stop like it ought to is to throw it in to neutral or switch the key off. I did some looking around and some people suggested it may be an issue with the micro switches so I went ahead and threw some new ones in to no avail. If anyone has any idea on what I might try next please let me know. Any help is much appreciated! |

Re: Cart wont stop running
Hey TevisG, i work at a golf course and our maintenance carts get pretty dirty. Last summer mine did the same thing, after alot of trial and error i finially found that it had dirt and crud build up under the gas pedal and wasnt letting the pedal shut the micro switche off. worth checking.

Re: Cart wont stop running
I also forgot to mention that the cable that should be actuating those microswitches, is.
Scott, I assume that because of the build up of dirt and such caused the microswitches to no be able to open and close correctly? Or am I misunderstanding what you are saying? I work at a camp and all our roads are dirt so to suggest that this thing is anything less and filthy all the time would be an out right fabrication... Thanks! |

Re: Cart wont stop running
no, i took the floorboard mat out and the cover the covers the gas pedal mechanism and there was dirt built up under the hinge at the bottom of the gas pedal and it wasnt letting the gas pedal close all the way. one i cleaned it out the cart would shut off as soon as i let off the pedal.

Make sure your engine kill wire is hooked up. This diagram is from 1986-1991 but I think the wiring is 95% the same. Should be the black wire with a white stripe.

Re: Cart wont stop running
Well, it looks like this may have fixed it for me. The connection at the microswitch is good but where it hooks to the engine is broken. I re-terminated the end at the engine but the problem persisted. So, I inspected some of the other visible parts of the wire and noticed some worn spots so I think it may still be the culprit. Here in the next few days I will go ahead and rerun this wire with new good wire and see if that doesnt take care of it.
