1991 ds
I am new to the forum so please be patient with me. My '91 ds started acting like it was starving for fuel. When I hold the choke in it would run a little better but then start to flood. I removed and cleaned the carburetor and air box but there was no change. The spark plug and plug wire are new. All of the fuel lines and pulse line are attached. I thought that maybe the fuel pump could be weak. How do I check to see if this is the problem?
Thanks, Chicken |

Re: 1991 ds
There is a brass screen on the fuel pump. They get clogged very easily. I'd spray carb clean and compressed air on it to make sure it's clean. Also I've had a couple of those years have plugged mufflers.Try smacking the muffler a few times and run it. Mikuni has a redesigned fuel pump (40$) that would be a good upgrade if you just wanted to try it.
