2000s Club Car Caryall 272 only goes in reverse

Hey everyone. Have a club car carryall 272 that only goes in reverse. When put it in forward it grinds for a second then doesn't go anywhere. when put in reverse it will go. Any ideas?

While it could be worn parts inside the transaxle, it's usually just a cable adjustment issue. Make sure it's tight in the brackets front & rear, brackets themselves tight and not bent out of place, cable pulls & pushed smoothly through it's housing. If in doubt you can disconnect the cable from the lever on the trans and shift it manually to be sure you've got full engagement.

Try removing the shifter cable from the shifter arm on the transaxle and put it in gear manually and see if it'll work. If it still grinds, you're gonna have to tear it apart. You'll need both bearings on the input shaft more than likely, an oil guide, and a couple of nylon thrust plates.
