Default 1996 gas club car runs fine for short periods then quits.

My 1996 gas club car has run without issue for several years. It recently quit on me after playing about 6 or 7 holes. After sitting for about 30 minutes it started back up and I made it to my house without issue. This happened 3 different times. I have replaced spark plug, disconnected rpm limiter,changed carburetor, replaced all fuel lines, and cleaned out gas tank as I had detected debris in tank and thought that was the problem. After doing all this I took it for test drive, it ran great for 15-16 minutes then quit again. After sitting a few minutes I decided to test spark.Using in-line tester it started and was running well with strong spark. Then it was like I'd turned key off and had no spark. I checked a couple more times with same results. Any ideas whether this could be the ignitor, coil, or something else?

I guess it's possible although the oil level is right where it should be. The low oil light has never come on.

The oil switch will only turn the light on, but it wont shut the engine down!
To me? With everything that you've done?
It sounds like a failing coil when the engine warms up!

I was afraid that might be it. I've never changed the coil but it sounds like it's a major pain just getting to it.

1996 was a changeover year for Club Car, mid-year they changed the engine, engine cradle and transaxle,
and in MY opinion the later 96 is a little bit more difficult to change the coil compared to the earlier 96.

There are 2 easy ways to figure out what part of the year your cart was built in,

Check the rotation of the drive clutch when trying to start it,
If it rotates Counter-Clockwise you have an early model year, (easier)
If it rotates Clockwise, you have a later model year (more difficult)

OR... post your the first part of your serial number, eg: AG9612-XXXXXX
the last 2 numbers (week of manufacture) are crucial for this year cart!

A= DS model
G= Gas
96= 1996
12= week of manufacture

That one is "too close for comfort" for me since I don't know the exact week(s) they changed over!
It might be better if you checked the rotation of your drive clutch!

If its the counter clockwise one, it could be the coil, the igniter or the rpm limiter. We find usually igniter or limiter
