Default Cart lost speed while driving last night

Driving flat out back from a friends house in the neighborhood last night. Was cruising 22-24mph. Then all of a sudden, it just started slowing down. Dropped to 14mph, then slowly creeped back up to 17mph.

I know I need to do the basic adjustment of the throttle and carburetor as it will back fire semi frequently while driving, when you let off the gas. This wouldn’t be my issue though, would it?

It was almost like the governor kicked in but rather than just bouncing off that, someone put the brake on and it just kept slowing down.

2007 ST350 2+2. New OEM belts and all fuel system parts

Appreciate the insight.

Fuel filters could be restricting flow. Are you using gas with ethanol? I will only use ethanol free gas.

22 24 seems pretty fast, while 14 17 sounds about right for the governor kicking in. Maybe the first time the governor is working?

Have only used ethanol free, 93 octane in it.

Until last night, ran out and the place closest to the house doesn’t sell it, so just had regular gas in it.

I agree....was pleasantly surprised, so much so, I used 2 different GPS aps to check. I have adjusted the governor on it.

I'd start with putting the cart in neutral and running it wide open while watching the clutches in smooth fashion the belt should sink down to the bottom of the secondary clutch and rise to the top of the primary clutch

I should say, it had about 1/4-1/2 gal of the E-free premium in it and I added reg gas to it. Almost seems like when that premium was used, it happened. My gut be over thinking it though

I think StoveBolt may be correct.

I bought a cart once that had been sitting and the governor did not work. The cart would FLY, Then one day it started working and the cart speed slowed way down!
