Terribly sorry for not replying, but very sick and have been in bed since our last conversation. Hopefully will be better in a few days and get back to it. Really appreciate your help.

Thank you. I have been thinking about this continuously. The reason I am going to replace the solenoid is that ALL the connections are corroded. When I tried to check the continuity, I could not get a good connection. Took the "RATTED" positive cable off the solenoid and the connections were every color but copper, including mud. Nevertheless, thank you for the 'thread' as it makes sense to me. Hopefully, I will be back at it tomorrow or Saturday. Again, thank you very much for your help and kind consideration.

Very interesting. Starting to replace the solenoid and found a series of resistors connected between the micro switch and the solenoid. Of course, it was tucked under the FNR switch and the connection is broken. No problem as I could re-solder the connection but I am wondering what the heck it's purpose. It appears to have been connected via 'back-yard' mechanics but do not see it on the wiring diagram. Accordingly, I will eliminate the connection and prepare a new terminal female connection for both the solenoid and the micro switch.

There should not be any resistors on that cart.

Back on the cart again. This is becoming a 'test of endurance' and I am losing. First the fuse is blown, which I will check for any shorts. But when I check continuity on the micro switches, the results are as follows:

Micro switch driver's side - (F)NO CONTINUITY - (N)NO CONTINUITY - (R)CONTINUITY

Micro switch pass'g side - (F)CONTINUITY - (N)NO CONTINUITY - (R)NO CONTINUITY

Is that correct?

Driver's side is only for the backup buzzer. It is working properly. Passenger side should have continuity in both directions. You can bypass it or swap it with the other one. They are the same switch. 85 and older did not have the passenger side switch. You don't need it.

Maybe I was not clear. The driver's side only has continuity in (R) and the passenger side only has continuity in (F). I could put them in series whereas I would have continuity in (F) and (R). After I connect in series, should one terminal go to the solenoid and the other go to the starter switch?

Sorry, wrong term. I meant parallel and therefore would have continuity in (F) and (R). After I connect, should one terminal go to the solenoid and the other go to the starter switch?
