Default 1990 Robin won't fire

I have a 1990 EZGO w/a robin engine, I've got 140lbs compression, good looking fire at the plug but it won't fire at all even using starting fluid. My Dad bought it a few yrs back, it sat in the barn since then. Wiring all looks good, turns over great, like I said, has good blue fire at the plug, got me a bit baffled.

Crank seals, reed valve, or any kind of vacuum leak will prevent the fuel mix from ever being drawn in to the engine.

You said plug is firing, so that makes me believe it's a 3-pg two stroke.
This link is your manual broken down into chapters. https://app.box.com/s/3habgxrtgz

It has been sitting in the barn since your dad bought it. Did it ever run?
I ask because that compression is high for a 2 stroke. I suspect somebody put the piston in backwards, and your dad brought it home.

To check the piston, remove the exhaust pipe, and look into the exhaust port. Move the piston up, and down. If you see two square holes in the side of the piston, it is in backwards.

Another thing to check is the crankshaft seals. They need to be air tight. Remove the fuel line from the carburetor. Crank the engine. There should be healthy spurts of gas from the fuel pump. If not, remove the pulse line between the pump, and engine case. Crank it over, and feel for pulses of air. If you don't feel anything, it's time to change the seals.

Thanks for the replies. We got the cart at an estate auction, unloaded it and thats where it sat. On the List....Did have it covered, motor looks ok, not much leakage apparent. turned over fairly readily, gave it a shot of ether to see if it fire. But, will look into those areas, need to make sure nothing has made a nest in the intake. We'll see what happens.

I'd put my money on crank seals if I were a betting man.

Also, it's a 2 stroke so there really isnt anything to leak. No oil in the motor
