90 3pg drive clutch cover
in the process of restoring a 90 3pg. Then cart sat for about 20byears unran outside.
I got the cart running and is drivable. One of the last things I look at what the drive clutch since I pretty much thought it was shot and from past experiences non serviceable. To remove the clutch I had to pull motor and put it on its side and filled the bolt hole with pb blaster overnight. So after removing it and setting it aside I finally reinstalled to test every and to no surprise it didn't budge. So thinking I was going to have to buy a comet I decided to take it apart since nothing was rattling like my last one. After sandblasting the rusted shift and a few whacks with a rubber mallet I freed the spider up the clutch works and returns as it should. Now my main question is I didn't mark how the dust cover went on and I noticed on the bolts there's a metal tag between 2 of the bolts (I don't know its a weight or not) you can see in the pics. So I when I had it apart I can up all the rust pretty good and I have no idea what two holes this metal band goes between. Does it matter? |
