Can I use 88 carb on my 81 2pg?
Read somewhere on here where a guy could swap out a early 80's 2pg carb (in my case, my fourth crappy Chinese carb) for a later model 88 carb? Possibly give the old girl a little more power, but mostly because I hate these Chinese carb fuel inlets. I've swapped out to a lighter fuel line, secondary filter/no secondary filter, line clamps, used JB weld, zip-ties, you name it. They've all failed causing the inlet to work off.
I noticed that the 88's have what appears to be an actual fastener that holds the fuel inlet on. That's what I'm looking for. Would also like to have a tad more power, but that's not my goal. I'm assuming I could make a bracket for the choke cable relocate and it would bolt up. Just wondering if anyone out there has done this? |

It will bolt right on, and work, but you won't see any gain unless you change the exhaust too.
The only thing different on the 88 2pg is the carb, and exhaust. It's the same engine. |
