84 ezgo marathon governor adjust
I have a ezgo marathon. It is a 1984 and runs good won’t get up to speed. I don’t know if it’s the governor or not but once u hit the idle that I am at it will cut out and then go. Not sure how the governor works. Has nothing hooked to the carb or engine. I think it is electrical. Could someone explain please. And tell me if I can and how to adjust the governor

It's not electrical.
Down low behind your muffler is a lever. One end rides on the front of your driven clutch. The other end is connected to a cable that loops around, and connects to the carburetor. When you reach 12 MPH the cable pulls the carburetor closed. Most have been removed. Governed speed is 12 MPH. Ungoverned is 18 MPH. |

Remove the cable from the carburetor.
All you need is a throttle cable, and a choke cable. |

Ok, must of never had a governor anyway. No other cables than choke and throttle. But engine still surges???
