Just a thought, Dabble, he may be referring to one of those in-line spark tester lights and not a "run of the mill" 12v test light. I think the latter would work, but just for one spark!

Personally, if the cart is turning over in both directions but not sparking in either direction then you may have a bad cdi on your hands.

'Just for one spark'

Yeah I hope you're right about him maybe using a real spark tester, I think we can help him but still need more info so we'll know where to begin

OK, that's a lot different than no spark. There is "sticky" on top of the forum that is titles "So your Yamaha won't turn over" or something like that. Give that a looksie and it addresses a lot of the things that cause your issue.

Ok so now we know what we're dealing with.

Use a 12v test light or better yet a multimeter and start at the battery and trace the wires to your solenoids. Check to see if power is getting to them.

Next see if you are getting 12v from the battery to the starter gen. There is a sticky on that.

You can check to see if you are getting 12v to the pedal switch, then see if you get 12v out of the pedal switch when it is depressed.

Another thing to check is ALL of your main electrical connections, start at the battery and work your way forward and back. Just trace the wires and check every connection to make sure it's tight, clean, and there are not cuts or frays in any of the wires. When you find a fuse, remove it and check it.
