Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
Hi all I have 1991 2 cylinder Robbins 295 ezgo that I just put a used engine in. Maintained the previous flywheel and pulsar. Seems to have ran great for a week and now it just stopped will start and run but not good. I pulled the air breather cover and there's actually potive pressure coming out of the carb. Looks like gas fumes.

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
Sounds like a timing issue, or valves need to be adjusted already.

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
All the valves are set to 4k. Maybe timing electronically?

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
You have an intake valve that is open when the piston is on an up stroke. That's mechanical timing. Maybe the timing belt skipped a couple of teeth.
I'm not a 4 stroke guy, so I can't tell you exactly how to fix it. You need CP241, or Trig, or A few more. |

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
show us a picture of the valve rockers first, then we can decide the way forward. Its as Cartaround says, most likely to be valves or timing. If it was running and suddenly stopped, then likely to be cam belt. If it faded and finally stopped, it could mean valves need replacing. We are looking for how much thread is showing above the valve rocker lock nuts. Just because you have 4 thou gap, it does not mean the valves are good!

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
I will be sure to send out a pic. There is quite a bit of meat inside the threads on the adjusters. Assuming the valves are good yet. It started running rough in a snap of the fingers so leaning toward jumped timing. Or computer? Late on fire? That wouldn't make sense with the raw fuel spraying out.more like valve timing.

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
These are the pics of the timing. It did indeed jump time. I'm very confused on why this happened. Both gears seem to look good. The belt tension was tight. The key that drives the gear seems to be good. The only thing is the teeth on the brand new belt seem to be rounded. The belt only has about an hour of run time on it and seems to be in rough shape. Maybe cheap belt made from cheap material? The belt is not an oem. Ebay buy.
It did go on very tight upon install. Any help is much appreciated guys thanks. |

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
Also there seemed to be a lot of belt dust along with what looked like a little tumble weed of fine belt threads/material. Unsure the cover

Re: Ezgo fuel out of breather issue
All i can suggest is the cheap belt fails to sit tight in the pulleys and jumped. Unless something has seized like the cam, due to poor oil supply the the brlt would jump on the cam pulley!
