Did you check that the throttle plate is closing fully with the pedal up, like CP241 suggested? If you have the service manual, it will explain how to check this. If not, we can help.

You replaced the carb now? Is it oem or aftermarket?

If it’s aftermarket 99% chance you can just chuck it in the garbage. You might get lucky but I wouldn’t put much, if any faith in it... you’re way better off cleaning the old oem carb really well.

Yes. The Chinese carbs are so poorly machined and tuned that you can easily spend more time and money chasing gremlins than you would buying a new OEM carb. The throttle plates often do not close completely. They also tend to run rich. I have even seen one instance of a float sticking on one causing it to flood the crankcase with fuel and blowing out the crank seals.

You’d be good If only China could build carburetors as well as they can build a virus...

Or vice versa. Even better for us all. I wish they built virus as poorly as they build carbs.

Forget the China carbs stick with Japan.
