Default 1988 EZ Go Marathon Muffer

My neighbor as a 88 ez go marathon that is missing the muffler. He tried to put a aftermarket one on he got from somewhere on line (I believe its for a 87) but it don't work at all. To much back pressure with it. It will start with straight pipe.
I can't find 88 muffler anywhere online. Any idea of where to look? Thanks

They no longer exist. The can looks the same but the inlet pipe enters the top end instead of the side.

so the 88 muffler enters the top? The one he got is on the side. Makes that much difference?

All 2pg engines are identical internally. The 88 uses a bigger carburetor, and more free flowing muffler in combination to gain 2 horsepower. Does 11hp really make that much difference than 9hp? I couldn't say.

Does the muffler that he is using make a difference in the cart starting? I would say he has more hidden issues than just a muffler. Probably low compression.

It wont start with the nonoriginal muffler on it. Take it off and starts fine. Will check compression on it.

thanks
