Default G14 Ignitor MELTED while idle and key on

I left the key in the ignition in the 'On' position for about 30-60 minutes. When I came back out to the garage I smelled melted plastic and found the ignitor box/unit melting onto the garage floor.
  1. I can order another one if I can find an aftermarket one, but my fear is that some other issue led to the problem. Any ideas on where I can diagnose what caused the ignitor box to melt? I have an analog multimeter but I don't know how to use it.
  2. Here's an OEM replacement, but they're sold out everywhere. The G9 ignitors are like $20 from 40 different sellers, but there's nobody making G14 ignitors, apparently.

Ignition keys can be left on indefinitely because the foot pedal micro also breaks the circuit. You have a short elsewhere.

There is an OEM unit on Ebay part #JN3-82305-00. Not cheap Back ordered on the low price sites partzilla ,boats.net ,and adept. Maybe Don Plowman can help.
