Re: Charging Problem
I have tried to bypass obc by taking disconnecting gray wire at fuse and running it - on battery #6 and it still will not charge. I have had batteries tested and two of them did not pass the load test. When I can get the cart to charge it lasts about 30 holes. It will not charge consistantly. I am trying to determine if it is the batteries or the obc. How can I find the problem?

Re: Charging Problem
It's not the charger. I have put my charger on another cart and it works fine. I took voltage reading off the batteries and they are 8.07,8.28,8.35,7.96,8.36 and 8.12. The total pack reading is 49.3. I took a voltage reading at the charging receptacle + and - and it read 36.7. I took a reading from the receptacle again but this time from the - and fused gray wire and got 49.3. The last time the charger kicked on and charged it chrged at only 5 amps. Now it will only click and humm no amps show on charger. Any ideas?

Re: Charging Problem
the 2 lowest batteries in the pack may be bad ~ going bad. Still 49v is plenty of voltage to run the charger. I suspect you have the charger connection to the battery pack made incorrect. You must have the same voltage at the receptacle as you have at the pack. is the charger receptacle connected to the same posts where you read pack voltage?

Re: Charging Problem
From the charging receptacle, positve goes to + on #1 battery and negative goes thru controller then to neg. on #6 battery. I have had the cart for 3 years and it has charged fine until now. It has been wired the same way since I have owned it. Is 36v reading I get at the pos. and neg. at charging reseptacle normal when the pack voltage is 49?

Re: Charging Problem
I just reset the obc and checked the volts at the + and - at charger receptacle and got 48.5v. I plugged the charger in and it clicked and hummed but no amps on guage. I then unplugged charger and checked volt at receptacle again and got reading of 37v. What's going on???? What do I do next??

Re: Charging Problem
What charger is it? Is it a Powerdrive? If so have a look at the stickies, there's a manual there with troubleshooting.
Identify your symptoms in the troubleshooting guide and post back. Hope it helps |

Re: Charging Problem
I dunno how you are getting 36v at the charger plug. Tdawg will probably come by this evening and shed some light on that.
Meanwhile if you want to try and bypass the obc and see if the charger charges...... It might indicate a bad obc ... I think that is where you are headed. OBC bypass & Test = The black wire coming out of charge receptacle has a yellow fuse holder, open it up and connect a jumper from the end coming out of receptacle to the negative on Battery 6 or the last one in series. Plug in the charger if it comes on your OBC is most likely TOAST. Not recommended to charge your batteries like this as the charger voltage will not come down or shut off with the OBC bypassed like this. This is only a test not a fix. |
