Default Can I mount a hitch directly to this?

I am wanting to bolt a hitch directly to the aluminum tow slot. Will that member structurally support the tow hitch and a hitch step used to step up into a rear seat. I am attaching a few photos for your comments.

To carry any load you need a hitch that attaches solid at stock tow slot and at least to each side frame rail forward of rear cross member near differential. GOOGLE and look at pickup Class 3-4 hitch mounts for ideas of locations. You need 3 contacts as far apart as possible for frame to hitch strength.

I think you could weld a couple of peaces of tube together that would extend
back and support the step a lot cheaper than buying those parts.

Having not looked close at some of the newer steps available myself for rear seats, but I do hear complaints from some new owners about what they think is excess give for a larger than normal person? That along with limited ability to bend old legs enough to get highth needed is common in my area for us OLD FOLKS.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I do not intend to use the hitch for towing. Only the step. I was given a seat back and support for a rear seat and can easily fabricate the seat bottom with a basic design I have come up with. I was trying to limit cost and I liked the look of the step. I also liked that it could easily be removed. Just wanted to make sure it would not crack the frame if someone stepped up on it. With these two pieces total cost would be $30.

My other concern is the moment force exerted on the frame with someone stepping on the ends of the step.
