Question about weight loads (People)
Hi All....Bought our first first Golf Cart yesterday and today I'm sure we are overloading it. (I'll try to post a pic) It is a 2006 Precedent 48v all stock except for the rear seat and lights. (Front and Rear) My question is what is the best way to upgrade my suspension to handle putting four kids plus me and my wife? We will only use the cart on pavement within our sub division.
This forum is a lifesaver to a "Rookie" like me, thanks everyone in advance for your answers. |

Re: Question about weight loads (People)
You not only need to be concerned with the suspension (HD Springs available) But with the drive system. Controller cables solenoid and F&R; basically the carts drive system was designed for 2 people and golf clubs ....

Re: Question about weight loads (People)
First as a parent of 6 children myself I would NEVER HAUL THE LOAD OF 6 PERSONS LARGE OR SMALL ALL AT ONE TIME. You are over loading the stock suspension, brakes, even tire load rating, BESIDES MAKING THE CART VERY TOP HEAVY AND EASILY OVERTURNED. That along with lack of seat belts all around, possible LACK of hand holds for rear passengers, NO ROLL OVER BARS ( supports for top are boarder line for holding top up much less protecting your family ), and much more? I am unable to tell if cart has been lifted but if so that makes it even more unsafe as center of balance is even higher to allow for over turning?
I hold my children, wife, grand children, great grand children far too precious to me to take this kind of chances, because I know the loss of one daughter and how I still have a hole in my heart from her loss. MY .02 WORTH |

Re: Question about weight loads (People)
In a sparky cart ALL of the energy passes through the solenoid, ALL of the time. With one person aboard driving on flat terrain, that solenoid may be passing 50 amps or so. Load down the cart with people and that number starts climbing fast. High current loads will wear out the OE solenoid pretty quickly. A HD solenoid will handle this load nicely for a long time. Other components need to be upgraded for these heavy loads also.
